Our Last Art Class!

What a mammoth Art Class!

This is most likely our last class ever.  With Christmas just around the corner we decided to have a Christmas themed sleep over art class.  We did craft after craft and it became a mammoth art class.

We began with having an extended afternoon tea with all the mums and siblings.  It was Christmas themed of course.  Here are some of the yummies....

.............Christmas Fruit Cake, Cupcake Wreath, Puffy Dog Wreath and Reindeer Cookies.

With Afternoon Tea completed, we started our first craft.

Craft One

Bleach image T-shirt

All crafty girls received a T-shirt (various colours were given out), the girls then took a watercolour pen (filled with bleach) and painted a design onto their t-shirt.  Some of the crafty girls used a template, while some did a freehand design.  It was very exciting as the image wasn't clear and sometimes invisible for a few minutes.

Craft Two

Etched Jars!

Each girl was given a jar and a choice of sticker stencils.  Once the stencils were stuck to the jar evenly, we covered the image with Etching Cream.  We left the cream sit for 10 minutes and then washed off the residue.  Majority of the girls then repeated the process on the other side of the jar.

With night approaching, we pitched the tent and settled in to watch an outdoor movie while having pizza for dinner.
Not a great deal of sleep happened but enough for the girls to wake up and begin to craft the day away.

Breakfast!

We started the day with pancakes and quickly got to work for a day full of crafts.

Craft Three

Christmas House!

In the past we have done a couple of different gingerbread houses, it is always a long process building the house to stay together (temperature and humidity always an issue).  So this year we used Crispy Thin Crackers and had the house build in 5 minutes.  We let it set, moved to our next craft and came back to decorate.  Easy!  And no ones fell apart.

Craft Four

Singlet Colour Effect!

Not really sure what to call this one, each crafty girl received a white singlet and using our sharpie and bic felt pens, did little designs in a circle pattern.  We then dropped small amounts of alcohol (vodka) in the centre of the design and watched it bleed into an interesting pattern.  It had a tie dye type of effect to it.  Once dry, the girls had to iron them and then wash in cold water.

Craft Five

Mint Decoration!

On Pinterest I had seen melted mint serving trays.  We went to make our own but the mints went all foamy.  I found that our starlight mints colours went in a swirl formation and the ones on pinterest had colour going straight out.  What is the difference?  I have no idea but it meant we couldn't make a mint serving tray.  Instead we placed some baking paper in a small saucepan and placed 7 mints in.  We put the stove on medium heat and allowed the mints to warm up.  One side melted enough to stick togther. Once we removed it from the stove, we added a hole with a tooth pick and trimmed any melted excess with scissors.

Craft Six

Pressed Washer Necklaces!

Using a metal forge alphabet set and some washers.  The girls stamped words into washers and flashing, to create necklaces and other decorative pieces.  Some of the crafty girls found it a little difficult to get the letters in deep enough in the washers so they used flashing.

Lunch Time

Nothing too exciting though.  Sandwiches and left over pizza.  The Crafty Girl's were too busy to stop for something like eating.  So, we continued on with our last 3 crafts while having lunch.

Craft Seven

Bon Bons!

We couldn't have a Christmas Art Class without making Bon Bons.  Using empty toilet rolls, crepe paper, cracker, ribbon, christmas stickers and some prizes they created these quickly and easily.

Using buttons and stamping their fingerprints, the crafty girls reproduced these Christmas cards.

Glass Pebble Magnets!

The Crafty Girls used a 1 inch round punch to cut out some christmas designs, then glued them to a glass pebble.  We let them dry for a little bit and then hot glued a magnet to the back.
