Hand Line Art

Our Very First Lesson!

Almost 2 years ago, Crafty Girl's friends came over for the first ever art lesson.  All of the girls were extremely keen, so we met monthly which quickly became fortnightly.  The group started with five, it did grow to seven but is now a group of six.

So, our first lesson was kept simple with a twist.  Some were completed, some were too excited to complete them.

The art class task for today:

1.  Trace your hand onto a large piece of paper, with fingers apart slightly.

2.  Make the tips of the fingers pointed.

3.  Add slightly curved strokes to each finger, to represent individual trees or branches.

4.  Add leaves.

5.  Go over all the outlines in black pen.

6.  Colour in.

7.  Add a background.

Here are the results.

Cobb Loaf

Before every art class we fill up on afternoon tea and last art class was particularly yummy, as we had Cobb Loaf.  Here is the recipe for those who wish to have it again.

Cobb Loaf

1 cobb loaf
1 carton sour cream
1 cup mozarella cheese
1 cup tasty cheese
4 bacon rashes/100g diced
5 - 6 shallots
1 tspn dried chives

1.  Mix all ingredients in a bowl.
2.  Cut the center out of the cobb loaf and break it into bite size pieces.
3.  Place all the mixed ingredients into the center of the cobb loaf.
4.  Place in the oven for 40 minutes at 180 degrees C.
5.  After 30 minutes add the bite size bread pieces.

Abstract Pastel Vase

Lesson #2

One of our very first lessons was of an abstract vase, using pastels.

The girls were told to draw a vase with flowers and then, using a ruler, draw straight lines through the piece on various angels.  They then had to colour it in using warm colours for the vase and flowers and cool colours for the outer area (some chose the opposite colours).

Altered Clipboards

A5 Altered Clipboards

Slowly we are getting back into the swing of things and remembering to take photos of our wonderful crafts before the lesson ends.

This art class we decorated A5 clipboards.  The use and design of the clipboard was left open for each girl to decide for themselves.  Here are the finished products.
